about

Originally released in 1981 as BSLP-0002 on Black Sheep Records, credited to Tom Foolery. “I Wanna Be a Teen Again” appeared on Yellow Pills: Prefill (Numero 004) and “Domestic/Imported” on the revamped version of the compilation (Buttons: Starter Kit), both credited to The Toms.

"Tom Foolery was [released] a year [after the first Toms album] and drastically different. It was never considered 'power pop,' though I thought it was... to a degree. I went from an eight-track tape recorder to a sixteen-track tape recorder, and it allowed me to add more production to it. But it was a departure from the Toms style. You see, Tom Foolery wasn’t really a follow-up. I did try to do a follow-up -- don’t forget, I had forty, maybe fifty songs recorded at those sessions for The Toms, which later did come out as bonus tracks -- but I couldn’t duplicate that sound, because it was originally done on an eight-track tape recorder and there’s a big difference from recording on that and a sixteen-track." -- Tommy Marolda
